Chef and restauranteur Mike Isabella has opened his latest eatery, Arroz, at the Marriott Marquis downtown in collaboration with executive chef Michael Rafidi. The Spanish restaurant serves a contemporary take on the cuisines of Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with a menu featuring tapas, paella and family-style dishes. The beverage program is led by Mike Isabella Concepts beverage director Taha Ismail, a native of Casablanca. The wine selection leans heavily on Spain and Portugal alongside a list of Sherry, Port, Madeira and cider. The 138-seat space includes 110 seats in the dining room, and a 28-seat bar and lounge area. An additional 62 seats will come later this spring with an outdoor terrace facing Massachusetts Avenue outfitted with fire pits, a mix of lounge and dining seating and canopies overhead.
