Cherry Blossom Pop-up Bar At Mockingbird Hill And Southern Efficiency

Drink Company returns this Spring with the Cherry Blossom PUB (Pop-up Bar), where James Beard Award-nominated Mockingbird Hill and Southern Efficiency will take on Japan with a cherry blossom-inspired transformation. The two bars will roll out new decor and exclusive menus, inspired by Washington, D.C.’s most beautiful season. Draped in pink, Southern Efficiency will feature an origami crane chandelier and an impressive collection of maneki-neko, Japan’s world-famous lucky “waving cats” against a beautiful backdrop of cherry blossom art by iconic D.C. artist Maggie O’Neill. At Mockingbird Hill, nostalgia will reign supreme with an ode to the beloved Super Mario Bros., featuring an entire room dedicated to the Mushroom Kingdom and a special corner reserved for super villain King Koopa. Mockingbird Hill and Souther Efficiency will be open March 1 through April 15, 5:00 pm to 12:30 am Sunday through Thursday and 5:00 pm to 1:30 am Friday and Saturday. Michael Schlow Hoagie At Taylor Gourmet

James Beard award winning chef Michael Schlow is teaming up with Taylor Gourmet to create a limited edition hoagie, The Alta Strada. The sandwich, named for Schlow’s Italian restaurant, features house-roasted turkey and imported ham topped with herbed fresh mozzarella, charred tomato, marinated long hot peppers, shredded lettuce, shaved red onion, extra virgin olive oil and Michael’s Ultimate Vinaigrette. The hoagie will be priced at $7.99 for a regular and $11.99 for a large and all proceeds from the Alta Strada will go to Chance for Life. CaliBurger Delivery Service Launch

CaliBurger will launch delivery of its California-style burgers to customers in the D.C. metro area. The menu is centered around the style of burger popular in Southern California for decades – thin fresh beef patties piled high with crisp vegetables on a grilled bun, served with fresh cut fries and handspun ice cream shakes. Starting today, orders can be placed through Caviar, DoorDash, GrubHub, PostMates and UberEats, use the CaliBurger mobile app to order instantly, or schedule an advance order or curbside pickup at Union Kitchen. The inaugural delivery menu showcases a focused selection of the brand‘s signature items at delicously low prices. Options include a Grilled Cheese ($3.99), Hamburger ($4.25), Cheeseburger ($4.99), and the ultimate Cali Double ($5.99) featuring two all-beef patties, melted American cheese, sliced ripe tomato, crisp iceburg lettuce and grilled sweet onions all topped with a signature sauce. No entrée is complete without a side of Fresh Cut Fries ($1.99) and diners have the option of Cali Style Fries ($3.99) – the same handcut seasoned potatoes, double fried for crispiness, smothered in melted American cheese, grilled sweet onions and signature sauce. Cancelled: Cheese & Whiskey Tasting At Via Umbria

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Via Umbria will host a cheese and whiskey tasting class, which teaches guests how to pair the two together. Via Umbria will offer guests a selection of local craft whiskeys, as well as traditional Irish whiskey, including American blended whiskey; lightly peated Irish whiskey; craft bourbon whiskey; and local rye whiskey.
