Cherry Blossom Pop-up Bar At Mockingbird Hill And Southern Efficiency

Drink Company returns this Spring with the Cherry Blossom PUB (Pop-up Bar), where James Beard Award-nominated Mockingbird Hill and Southern Efficiency will take on Japan with a cherry blossom-inspired transformation. The two bars will roll out new decor and exclusive menus, inspired by Washington, D.C.’s most beautiful season. Draped in pink, Southern Efficiency will feature an origami crane chandelier and an impressive collection of maneki-neko, Japan’s world-famous lucky “waving cats” against a beautiful backdrop of cherry blossom art by iconic D.C. artist Maggie O’Neill. At Mockingbird Hill, nostalgia will reign supreme with an ode to the beloved Super Mario Bros., featuring an entire room dedicated to the Mushroom Kingdom and a special corner reserved for super villain King Koopa. Pizzeria Paradiso Celebrates Craft Brewers Conference

The Brewers Association Craft Brewers Conference is returning to DC April 10-13, and Pizzeria Paradiso’s new beverage director Drew McCormick has lined up a week’s worth of beer-centric events and tap takeovers to celebrate. Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown will host Allagash and Oxbow for a celebration of Maine collaboration. Birreria Paradiso will start pouring brews at 6:00 p.m., and will be the only bar outside of Maine to receive the Rivulet, Allagash and Oxbow’s collaboration beer. Representatives from both breweries will be present throughout the night to speak to their respective beers. On Tuesday, April 11, Pizzeria Paradiso Old Town will host a mini tap takeover featuring brews from Parkway Brewing Company in Virginia. A selection of their brews will be offered, including the Puddle Jumper pale lager, the brewery’s newest seasonal release. Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont will also host a mini tap takeover with a selection of beers from New York-based SingleCut Beersmiths. Named for a specific guitar body-type, SingleCut’s beers are all named after the staff’s favorite musicians, lyrics and various musical equipment. At each restaurant location, Pizzeria Paradiso will offer three different portfolio tastings all day Wednesday and Thursday. Dupont will offer pours from Shelton Importers, Georgetown will feature beers from 12 Percent, and B. United will be the portfolio offered in Old Town. Finally, Paradiso will close out the week with an all-day tap takeover highlighting Stone and their recent brewery collaboration beers. The restaurant will offer a selection of Stone brews, and each location will have a different Stone collaboration beer, and will fill the rest of the draft list with beers from the respective collaborating brewery. In addition to the Stone offerings on tap, Dupont will have brews from Odell and Marble; Georgetown will offer pours of Beavertown and Garage Project; and Old Town will feature Maine Beer Co.
