The most anticipated pop-up of the summer is coming. Drink Company and Ommegang Brewery presents the Game of Thrones Pop-Up Bar (PUB), in the spaces formerly known as Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency, and Eat the Rich. At the Game of Thrones PUB, you will visit scenes from the North, the Red Keep, Mereen, the House of Black and White, and the Throne Room. Cocktails such as What is Dead May Never Die and The Lannisters Send their Regards will be paired with the show’s soundtrack. Swords, dragons, horns, and an Iron Throne help celebrate the show’s summer return. The Red Keep features the Armory, where you can pledge allegiance to your house banners, and take a picture as the flayed man on a custom piece built by The Strong Oaks Woodshop. Just not during the show itself when the bar will be closed. Ommegang Brewery’s Bend the Knee, the official Game of Thrones beer, will be on draft. To celebrate Bastille Day, Central will hold a weeklong celebration of festive food and wine pairings. On Tuesday, foie gras and country pate ($16) will be available. Grilled loup de mer, heirloom tomato ($32) will be served on Wednesday and Thursday’s special is duck leg confit, herb spaetzle ($27) with French wine pairings available each day for $11. On Friday and Saturday there will be a special three-course menu for $48 with optional French wine pairings for an additional $24. This summer, be sure to visit Canteen, NRG’s seasonal pop up beer garden. The roving beer garden will plant roots at its new location with 20 beer drafts (twice as many as last year) as well as two additional handles dedicated to ciders, a selection of summer sipping wines (white and rosé, naturally), and the infamous bourbon slushy will return. You can expect the very best craft beers sourced locally, nationally, and from overseas. They will be pouring classic German-style lagers, like Mahrs Bräu Kellerbier Ungespundet Hefetrüb; bone-dry Belgian ales, including De Ranke Simplex and De la Senne Taras Boulba; outstanding local hop-driven offerings, The Veil’s Sitdwn and BHUMBL among them, not to mention a fresh, rare keg of Double Dry-Hopped Sungazer, from Charles Towne Fermentory in South Carolina; and some delicious sours, like Grimm Cube: Cuvee #4, J.Wakefield Stush, and Upland Cursed Kettles. Red Apron will once again curate a few food items, in addition to local food trucks visiting all summer long. The rules are simple, get a hole-in-one and your first Union beer is on them. Named after Old Pro Mini Golf in Ocean City, Union Old Pro is a German-style Gose brewed with salt and coriander. Gently tart with a dash of salt, this incredibly refreshing beer is perfect for the warm summer months. In honor of the occasion, they’re tapping 5 different beers from the Baltimore brewery. Highlights include hard-to-find kegs of Cosmic Giggle, an Imperial IPA hopped with Citra and Galaxy lupulin powder; and Tee Time: Peach, a limited release Old Pro variant finished with peach tea. There is a limit of one hole-in-one attempt per person. Winners will receive a free 14 oz. pour of Old Pro, Skipjack or Steady Eddie. On this night, ChurchKey will pour no less than 30 exceptional drafts from six of the best craft brewers from Spain, including Edge (Barcelona), Guineu (Valls de Torroella), Cervesera del Montseny (Seva), Marina (Blanes), Naparbier (Noáin) and Arriaca (Guadalajara). To celebrate the occasion, they’ve invited Estadio Executive Chef Rufino Bautista to add a few of his favorite dishes to ChurchKey’s menu, available for one night only.
