Game Of Thrones Pop-Up Bar

The most anticipated pop-up of the summer is coming. Drink Company and Ommegang Brewery presents the Game of Thrones Pop-Up Bar (PUB), in the spaces formerly known as Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency, and Eat the Rich. At the Game of Thrones PUB, you will visit scenes from the North, the Red Keep, Mereen, the House of Black and White, and the Throne Room. Cocktails such as What is Dead May Never Die and The Lannisters Send their Regards will be paired with the show’s soundtrack. Swords, dragons, horns, and an Iron Throne help celebrate the show’s summer return. The Red Keep features the Armory, where you can pledge allegiance to your house banners, and take a picture as the flayed man on a custom piece built by The Strong Oaks Woodshop. Canteen, NRG’s Seasonal Pop Up Beer Garden

This summer, be sure to visit Canteen, NRG’s seasonal pop up beer garden. The roving beer garden will plant roots at its new location with 20 beer drafts (twice as many as last year) as well as two additional handles dedicated to ciders, a selection of summer sipping wines (white and rosé, naturally), and the infamous bourbon slushy will return. You can expect the very best craft beers sourced locally, nationally, and from overseas. They will be pouring classic German-style lagers, like Mahrs Bräu Kellerbier Ungespundet Hefetrüb; bone-dry Belgian ales, including De Ranke Simplex and De la Senne Taras Boulba; outstanding local hop-driven offerings, The Veil’s Sitdwn and BHUMBL among them, not to mention a fresh, rare keg of Double Dry-Hopped Sungazer, from Charles Towne Fermentory in South Carolina; and some delicious sours, like Grimm Cube: Cuvee #4, J.Wakefield Stush, and Upland Cursed Kettles. Red Apron will once again curate a few food items, in addition to local food trucks visiting all summer long. Granville Moore’s Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

H Street’s Granville Moore’s turns 10 years old. To celebrate, the crew has put together new beer and food menus, and are running some exciting specials. The beer menu, under the guidance of new beer monger Brendan Kilroy, features the Belgian classics and Trappist ales that Granville’s has always been known for. In the kitchen, chef Teddy Folkman has put together a menu highlighting some of the most popular items throughout the decade at Granville Moore’s. 9th Annual Rickey Month Competition At Jack Rose

In July, The DC Craft Bartenders Guild will be holding its 9th Annual Rickey Month competition. The Rickey is D.C.’s native cocktail, invented in 1883 at Shoomaker’s by George A. Williamson and named after Colonel Joe Rickey. The drink consists of any base spirit with lime juice and sparkling mineral water or soda. The Rickey Competition has traditionally been the largest and best attended bartending competition in the District of Columbia. It challenges its bartenders to reimagine the District’s native cocktail in creative ways, while staying true to the idea of the original. Over 20 bars in the District are competing in Rickey Month with their Rickey being featured on their menus – the full list of participating bars will be available hereThe Rickey Competition finals will feature the final 8 competitors making their Rickeys for guests and judges, and at the end, the Rickey Champion will be named! $30 at door or $20 for guild members, includes bottomless rickeys and light snacks. Denizens Brewing Co Sun Salutations and Suds

Who can resist the combination of sun, salutations, and suds? Denizens Brewing Co. is partnering with the talented Stephanie Nale of Gingerbean Health & Wellness (and DBC manager extraordinaire) for a bi-monthly yoga series in the beer garden. Join them for an all levels yoga class in the sunshine, followed by a pint (or three) in the beer garden. They like to call this detox-retox. Your ticket includes a one hour yoga class and your first pint.  You must be 21+ to join this event. Paws On The Patio At Bastille

Bastille opens its patio up to furry friends. Paws on the Patio is a family and pet-friendly Sunday afternoon Happy Hour on Bastille’s expansive private patio. As special guests, Bastille welcomes adoptable doggies from Operation Paws for Homes, who rescue dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized. Most of their dogs come from rural shelters in South and North Carolina, as well as Virginia. They also partner with local shelters as needed. The organization provides pet adoption services to families located in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. A portion of the proceeds of Paws on the Patio will be donated to Operation Paws for Homes. RdV “Celebrate Virginia” Wine Tasting Series

In honor of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday (April 13th), RdV’s “Celebrate Virginia” wine tasting will showcase some of the finest wines being made in Jefferson’s home state of Virginia (including RdV’s award-winning Rendezvous), thoughtfully paired with some of Virginia’s best cheeses and charcuterie. Beginning on Sunday, April 9th and continuing every Sunday throughout the summer, the “Celebrate Virginia” tasting will be available in two separate reservations on Sundays: 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. The seated tasting will offer four different Virginia wines on a rotating and varying schedule, so each one will be a unique experience for guests.
