Celebrate Lundi Gras – that’s right, the night before Mardi Gras — with maestro mixologist Ryan Gannon of New Orleans’ Cure, a 2018 James Beard Award Foundation Winner for Outstanding Bar Program, who is popping-in for a bar stop at the oyster-and-ale haven, The Salt Line. Gannon, the Big Easy’s calm and cool barkeep, will sling back bottles with The Salt Line’s cocktail craftsman and tapster, Donato Alvarez, in a DC countdown to one of the most-festive parties in America. It’s the perfect pre-game for Gannon and Alvarez, who will participate the following day in the 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Extravaganza Hurricane-making competition.
A menu of festive fare inspired by the Carnival classics will be offered for only $10 at the bar. Wash it all down with Louisiana’s finest Abita Beers [$4] and some serious signature cocktails including the infamous Sazerac, the Howitzer, Pimm’s Cups, the La Louisiane, and the ever-so-popular Hurricane, only $8 each. 4:30 to 10:00 p.m. 79 Potomac Avenue SE.
