Submerge yourself into the traditions of Italy, and eat some delicious seafood while you’re at it. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is a custom where seven different types of seafood are served at The Vigil dinner. Its roots can be traced back to Southern Italy on La Vigilia, or Christmas Eve, when red meat was set aside and saved for the next day’s Christmas dinner. Therefore, seafood was what was left to eat on Christmas Eve. The practice was continued by the Italian immigrants in the United States and has been kept alive even to this day. Chef Liam of Via Umbria has channeled his childhood Christmas Eve dinners and created a menu that will leave your taste buds reeling, featuring varying preparations of fish and seafood from different regions of Italy such as Pugliese style stuffed mussels, Tagliolini with clams, fried smelts, saffron and arugula in tomato sauce, and more. You will be joined at every course for a description of each dish–feel free to ask questions. Each Dinner at Via Umbria is an opportunity to immerse yourself in great food, great wine, and great people. $100 per person. 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, please click here.
