District Distilling Co. Spirit Of Cooking Class Series

At Washington, DC’s only urban distillery and restaurant combination, the synergy between food and drink is always the focus and will be highlighted at ‘The Spirit of Cooking,’ a new series of cooking classes in which head distiller Matt Strickland and Executive Chef Justin Bittner team up to present an intimate, interactive cooking class at the Chef’s Counter, a small room built into Bittner’s kitchen. Running monthly, each Spirit of Cooking class will focus on tasting one of District Distilling Co.’s spirits both straight and in cocktail form. Chef Justin Bittner will prepare a menu to accompany the spirit and demonstrate technique and preparations in an interactive, hands-on setting, followed by a dinner of dishes demonstrated. The series kicks off with a focus on District Distilling’s newest spirit launch, the WildJune Western-Style Gin. Chef Bittner will teach cooking whole fish in various techniques. Attendees will learn how to prepare sauces and rubs to accompany whole fish, preparation methods and enjoy a dinner of three types of whole fish and accompaniments paired with Wildjune-based cocktails.
