Sandwich Madness Returns To G By Mike Isabella
Mon, May 01
Washington, D.C. chef and restaurateur Mike Isabella announces the return of his winner-takes-all Sandwich Madness competition as the region’s top food journalists and media personalities face off for charity. Each month, two journalists will compete head-to-head with the winner determined by the number of sandwiches sold, banking $1 from each sale for a charity of his or her choosing. Victors will progress to the next round, culminating in a final matchup in November. Now in its fourth season, Sandwich Madness has raised nearly $15,000 for local non-profits since the tournament kicked off in 2015, supporting organizations ranging from No Kid Hungry to the Rottweiler Rescue Foundation to Girls Rock. May kicks off with Rebecca Cooper’s Caliente Cuban competing against the Jurassic Pork from David Nellis. Check online for updates on the monthly scores and sandwich details.
