We had a fabulous show at Foodie and The Beast this week. Carlie was in with tastes and talk of Himitsu, which Tom Seitsema termed, “a Petworth Jewel.” Initially famed for her mixology skills, 2016 Thrillist “Bartender Of The Year” Carlie Steiner has made the leap to restaurateur. Himitsu is an intimate, Japanese-inspired restaurant with—of course—an impressive beverage program. We had even more to eat thanks to Executive Chef Austin Fausett from Proof, who brought in delicious brunch treats. Then, Alex Padro was on to dish on the Shaw renaissance. After decades of public disinvestment, Shaw is now one of D.C.’s most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods—with tons of lovely places to eat. Finally, Ryan Lyles, Jim Beam Liquor Specialist, came in to give us the lowdown on the Trigger Agency’s 11th annual National Harbor Food & Wine Festival, happening this weekend. Naturally, we got a taste of the event by way of a few specialty cocktails. Be sure to check it out here—Nycci and Scott Drewno will be heading the chef demos.
