In spirit of Fat Tuesday, it was all about the booze this week on Foodie & The Beast. We delved into American history with Steven Grasse and Michael Alan, author and illustrator of Colonial Spirits. We got a taste of Ben Franklin’s milk punch, and experienced the calming effects of “hysterical water.” We also spoke with Jeff Lindenmuth about the second annual WhiskyFest at the Marriott Marquis D.C. There will be whiskeys from all over the globe—Ireland, America, Japan, and even India. Central Michel Richard Chef David Deshaies was in to tell us all about his new venture, The Unconventional Diner, which will be opening in the Mount Vernon/Shaw neighborhood this summer. Finally, we most certainly put the “fat” in Fat Tuesday thanks to Filippo Alampi, who brought in his award-winning olive oils for us to try in order to prepare us for the Flos Olei program coming up this week.
