This week’s Foodie & The Beast was filled with wine, cocktails, and biscuits. Nick Farrell showed up shaker in hand and began creating his artisan cocktails featured at Iron Gate. The Maxwell Park gang, Brent Kroll, Niki Lang and Daniel Runnerstrom, came in studio to give us the 411 on their new 33-seat wine bar. Not only did they pour us some delicious wine, but we also got a sabré tutorial from Brent during the break. Pastry Chef Fabrice Bendano brought in pastries from Le Diplomate while giving us the inside ~ scoop ~ on his new ice cream cart. He shared his unique flavors served on French imported cones dipped in sprinkles. The Watergate Hotel’s Executive Chef, Michael Santoro and General Manager Jeff David came in to talk about the hotel’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and updated us on the latest renovations. Chef Santoro brought in a selection of dishes featured at Kingbird that were almost too beautiful to eat. Chae Yi stopped by from District Distilling Company to share some of Chef Justin Bittner’s crazy-good biscuits including a fried chicken biscuit, on the menu for the restaurant’s first ever Happy Hour.
