The FoodieAndTheBeast was full of people, food, and of course, booze this week. Paola Zambrana, event organizer of the annual Vine on the Waterfront, gave us the 411 on the community-based festival which you do not want to miss. Paola brought in with her wine expert Barry Isenhour from Horton Vineyards and Doug Fabbioli of Fabbioli Wines both of whom will be pouring at the event this year. Chef Logan McGear and his partner Samy K brought in some delicious eats including a beautiful Cesar salad, a GIANT meatball, and panna cotta, all from the recently opened, Rosario. Next we took a break from stuffing our mouths, while Shane Hughes and Dena Leibman told us all about the Chesapeake Foodshed Feast which celebrates food and farmers of the Chesapeake region. Leah Cheson and Chef Jonathan brought in the most mouth watering BBQ pork sandwiches, which are being featured at Right Proper Brewing. Perfect timing for the BBQ and Grilling Week going on this week, culminating in the 25th Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle, bringing cooking contests, live entertainment, and open-air beverage gardens. We finished up with Becky (with the good hair) Ohlin, as she talked about the DC Passport Program, a unique 2 for 1 drinking guide to the District.
