THEO RUTHERFORD

Executive Chef/Owner Fiola

Theo was captivated by the world of wine while working on the Frescobaldi vineyard in Italy during a college semester abroad in Florence. A native Washingtonian, Theo grew up on Capitol Hill, where in his opinion, some of the world’s best action takes place at Jimmy T’s on a Sunday morning or at Eastern Market on a Saturday afternoon.

Since graduating from Muhlenberg College in 2008 with degrees in theater and dance, Theo has been studying with the Court of Master Sommeliers, reaching the certified level in 2010. Theo has been a member of the opening team for four
restaurants in DC, including Sonoma, Enology, Café Dupont and Ripple. During these experiences, he’s developed great understanding in wine list and beverage program development. Rutherford joined Fiola shortly after opening, excited to return to the phenomenal flavors and culture of Italy From his childhood home on Capitol Hill, to the hills of Tuscany and back, Theo strives to blend
