Nocturne has opened in the basement of Sugar Shack's forthcoming Shaw doughnut shop. Owner Rob Krupicka (former Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates) has introduced an experimental bar with a menu featuring 30 to 40 different mini cocktails ("tapas-style") where customers can mix and match in flights. Half-to three-quarter-portion drinks are available in flights at Nocturne. Captain Gregory's Executive Chef Brandon McDermott will prepare a small menu of gourmet snacks to match with the drinks, such as duck jerky and deviled eggs. A salmon belly rillette with sea beans, cucumber espuma, and olive oil "caviar" will be served in a jewelry box. There are also doughnuts and foie gras marshmallows.
