Jamie Mertz has opened a new gluten-free and partial vegan bakery is called Red Bandana. In addition to carrying the gluten-free cakes and grain-free breads Mertz has been selling for years out of her hard-to-miss red Volkswagen Vanagon, the new addition to the Bethesda dining scene is bringing fruity oatmeal breakfast bowls, egg sandwiches topped with kimchi, and peppery avocado toast to the table. There’s also seasonal soups, salads, cheesy focaccias, and fruit-spiked sparkling waters. All of the items on the menu are gluten-free, and about half the menu is vegan. (8218 Wisconsin Avenue)
