Maine Tap Takeover -- All-Purpose Pizzeria will host a Maine Brewing Company tap takeover on April 10 at 5:30 p.m. Beers on tap will include the Woods & Waters, an IPA with pine and citrus notes inspired by the great outdoors; Lunch, an East Coast version of a West Coast IPA with intense hoppiness and tropical fruit; and A Tiny Beautiful Something, a pale ale brewed with El Dorado hops featuring intense candied orange and citrus flavors. A special Maine Beer Co.-inspired menu includes a pizza aptly named Weathervane, named for a local bar Friedman frequented while living in Maine, topped with fried clams, smoked bacon, fontina crema, Calabrian chili and chives. (1250 9 Street NW; allpurposedc.com) Cherry Blossom Pop Up Bar (PUB) -- After the massive success of the holiday-themed Miracle on 7 Street pop-up experience, Drink Company has returned with the Cherry Blossom PUB (Pop-up Bar), where James Beard Award-nominated Mockingbird Hill (1843 7 Street) and Southern Efficiency (1841 7 Street) take on Japan with a cherry blossom-inspired transformation. The two bars have rolled out new decor and exclusive menus. Draped in pink, Southern Efficiency features an origami crane chandelier and an impressive collection of maneki-neko, Japan’s world-famous lucky “waving cats” against a beautiful backdrop of cherry blossom art by iconic DC artist Maggie O’Neill. At Mockingbird Hill, nostalgia reigns supreme with an ode to the beloved Super Mario Brothers, featuring an entire room dedicated to the Mushroom Kingdom and a special corner reserved for super villain King Koopa. Cocktails and food include drinks like the King Koopa Cup, a mix of Japanese whiskey, Genmaicha "popcorn" tea and ginger syrup with a lemon “crown,” and What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Smaller, made with vodka, mandarin orange, pomelo and apricot soda. Classic Japanese bites like gyoza, seaweed salad and a katsu sandwich are also on the menu, alongside Japanese sake, beer and whiskey offerings. Plus, expect a Mario Kart contest and bartenders wearing red caps and overalls for the duration of the Cherry Blossom PUB, which will stick around through April 15. The Rose Garden will feature up to 10 different rosés, plus frozen drinks, high balls and ice cold beer; chef Daniel Perron has created a special menu of snacks, including tuna 'nduja, shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell. The outdoor space will be wrapped in tropical plants with deco white metal tables and pink striped umbrellas designed by the highly acclaimed Edit Lab at Streetsense.
