Sultan Shakir is the Executive Director of SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders), an organization that works to support and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the Washington, DC, metro area. a must-listen interview!
Longtime Foodie and the Beast friend Paul Dahm, former ED of Brainfood, now is the cofounder of  WorkChew, creating coworking spaces in restaurants during off-peak hours. Think: hanging out at Starbucks doing your work, having meetings, etc., but it’s not Starbucks – it’s one of your favorite restaurants! Smart!!                                                                                                                                                                                            A group of women advocates, chefs, restaurant owners, and managers have come together to sponsor a fundraiser – Amazing Women – to raise money for kids locked away at the border and facing a humanitarian crisis. Restaurants from all over DC joined to contribute food and drink to support the July 15 event. Diane Gross, Co-owner, Cork Wine Bar, is the organizer of DC Women CARE and is in with all the details.
Last, but hardly least, Beth Cover, wine manager for, Wardman Wines is in with tastes and talk of the just-launched Wardman Circle, their new wine club.
