Planting the Seeds of Change: K-Food Grant Initiative Launches in DC

Chef Edward Lee, SHIA Restaurant and the Korean Community Service Center of the Greater Washington (KCSC) have teamed up to debut the inaugural K-Food Grant Initiative, a first-of-its-kind program aimed at expanding the conversation around Korean cuisine in America. Think beyond kimbap and Korean barbecue. This grant invites bold, fresh ideas that spotlight the depth, diversity, and innovation within Korean culinary culture.

Now through September 30, 2025, the next generation of Korean American and Korean diaspora leaders, as well as anyone passionate about K-Food, can submit proposals for pioneering projects that creatively reimagine traditional Korean food. Two recipients will each receive a $4,000 grant to bring their vision to life, with a focus on making a lasting impact in the DMV’s food scene.

Submissions close September 30, 2025. For full details and to apply, visit shiarestaurant.org/kfoodgrant
