SOOK DC
1346 T Street NW Rose Previte has officially debuted the wine bar at Sook DC, completing the transformation of the former Compass Rose space into a new all-day café and wine bar. The café opened in November after a summer off, and now Previte, alongside partner Sashi Jayatileke, unveils the evening offering, reimagining the space where coffee, cocktails, wine, and global flavors bring people together. From morning coffee and freshly baked pastries to spritzes and natural wines in the evening, Sook DC sources food and drink from small producers with new menu items. A roaming feast of international flavors, Sook blurs the lines between day and night: coffee and breakfast by morning, a relaxed café environment by afternoon, and a lively bar serving small plates, spritzes, and natural wines into the evening. Rooted in fair labor and sustainability, Sook partners with coffee and wine producers, traders, and leaders to ensure that everything poured and plated nourishes both the people in the room and the planet from which it came. DISTRICT STILL SUPPLY & CO.
918 F Street NW District Still & Supply Co., the capital’s newest underground speakeasy, has officially opened its doors (if you can find it). This new concept redefines the modern cocktail experience with an immersive nod to the Prohibition era, blending moody elegance, craftsmanship, and a sense of discovery. Guests are encouraged to “follow the ghostly whispers” and descend the spiral staircase into an atmospheric hideaway where history meets luxury. The password (SpiralSociety) unlocks entry into a world of rich textures, candlelit corners, and the hum of jazz beneath stone and slate. Inside, District Still & Supply’s “liquid time capsule” cocktail program brings back pre-Prohibition classics and reimagines them as journeys through time and taste, where the familiar meets the unexpected (think inventive riffs inspired by far-flung flavors and timeless spirits). The food menu, anchored by bold, shareable small plates, completes the experience, encouraging conversation and connection in a setting that feels equal parts hidden parlor and modern supper club.
