Día de los Muertos at The Wharf
M Street Landing to 7th Street SW
Celebrate Día de los Muertos at The Wharf with an afternoon of music, culture, and community along the waterfront. In partnership with the Mexican Cultural Institute, Fiesta DC, and Modelo, this free outdoor celebration brings the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos to life through art, live performances, and family activities.
Guests can enjoy live music from Latin Celtic band La Unica, cultural performances by De Colores, Ballet Folklorico El Tepeyac, and Fundación Elena, plus a Modelo beer garden, sugar skull decorating, and face painting for all ages. Visitors are encouraged to dress in vibrant Día de los Muertos attire, take photos with the life-sized sugar skull display, and explore hand-crafted altars honoring loved ones who have passed.
As evening falls, join the community light procession from M Street Landing (near Hell’s Kitchen) to The Grove (near The Pendry) — a glowing tribute featuring LED candles carried along the waterfront.
