Do It Italian-Syle - Start a new tradition this Christmas Eve and treat the family to the Italian-style Feast of Seven Fishes. While not necessarily a tradition in Italy, there is a tradition of eating fish on Christmas Eve that hails back to the Roman Catholics abstaining from meat on the eve of certain holidays, like Christmas. Regardless, feasting on seven fish is delicious and you can get in on all of the goodness too:

Carmine's Feast for the Family
Carmine’s, the Penn Quarter family-style Italian eatery, will offer the traditional Italian-American Christmas Eve Feast of Seven Fishes on Friday, December 24. The dine-in only special menu will be a seven-course dinner that includes a choice of appetizers,  pasta courses and two seafood entrees. Priced at $350, Carmine’s Feast of Seven Fishes serves 6-8 guests.  Reservations may be made at CarmineNYC.com

Centrolina’s Sustainable Feast
As with tradition, Centrolina is offering its signature Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner on Christmas Eve. The menu will feature a selection of Italian seafood dishes using fresh, sustainable fish from the DMV, including swordfish, tuna, and fresh octopus. $195 per person. Feasting at Fiola
This Christmas Eve at Fiola, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes or the 8-Course Harvest Menu. The Christmas Eve Feast of Fishes culinary experience is known in Italy for changing slightly according to the location and the number of courses, but always highlights the freshest and most delicious seafood, prepared with traditional techniques and innovative touches. Menus are available for $250 per person, and curated wine pairings are available for $175 per person. Iron Gate’s Fanciful Feast
The fanciful, fish-filled feast returns. Chef Tony Chittum's Feast of the Seven Fishes is back for the holiday season. Join December 21st through 24th for this wonderful Italian-American tradition. Menu highlights include marinated razor clam, Sicilian-style seafood stew, swordfish meatballs, and more. Fishes from the Little Maiale
'Tis the season for... Feast of the Seven Fishes! Join Maialino Mare on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for a traditional Italian feast alongside the Maialino Mare classics. The seven course menu is priced at $85 per person. maialinomare.com

Modena Prix Fixe
Modena is offering an eight-course, prix fixe Feast of Seven Fishes menu which will consist of fish and pasta, following the Roman Catholic tradition to refrain from the consumption of meat on holy days. The numerology represents the seven sacraments and seven days of creation. Priced at $135 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), menu highlights include Baccalá Carpaccio with Winter citrus, salmon roe, red veined sorrel and roasted potato espuma; Linguini Vongole with Middleneck clams, preserved lemon, parsley, Sicilian olio verde; Pan Roasted Monkfish with honey nut squash purée, grilled lacinato kale and 10-year aged balsamic, as well as Black Pepper Cavatelli with sea urchin emulsion, vesuvio tomato, pickled chili and lemon oil. Available for dine-in or carryout throughout the evening on Friday, December 24. Nina May Two Ways
Nina May will host a special Feast of the Seven Fishes menu as part of the Italian-American Christmas Eve celebration. The team at Nina May understands some people might feel more comfortable at home, which is why they are also offering this menu for pickup and delivery as well. All takeout orders will be pre-packaged meals with heating and serving instructions. This will be the only menu offered on Christmas Eve.  There will also be a vegetarian option as well. ninamaydc.com
