Because They’re Funny (BTF) DC Comedy Festival
901 Wharf Street SW
The Because They’re Funny (BTF) DC Comedy Festival returns for its third annual celebration of comedy, culture, and community from October 10–12 at The Wharf. Presented by Jeff and Nicole Friday, the Howard University alumni behind the American Black Film Festival, BTF has rapidly become one of the city’s most anticipated cultural events, amplifying diverse comedic voices and putting DC at the forefront of the national comedy scene.
This year’s headliners include SNL alum Jay Pharoah and “Queen of Comedy” Sommore, with performances at The Anthem and across the Wharf campus.
The festival also features comedy legend Tisha Campbell, known for her iconic TV roles on Martin and My Wife and Kids, along with a full lineup of rising stars and household names.
More than just laughs, BTF is a joyful, inclusive space that celebrates authenticity and connection through comedy. As a platform rooted in culture and creativity, it reflects DC’s role as a vibrant home for the arts.
