FIRST RUNNINGS: BEER AND THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND RATINGS SITES

When:
August 15,2019 – August 15,2019 all-day
Where:
Heurich House Museum
1307 New Hampshire Avenue NW

First Runnings is an interview series at the Heurich House, hosted by BYT Beer Editor, Phil Runco. In brewing nomenclature, “first runnings” refers to the heavy, concentrated wort extracted from the mash, prior to rinsing the grain with more water to wash out the residual sugars. So, the first runnings is the super-rich sugar water, the good stuff. The concept of this event is pretty simple: First Runnings will consist of conversations with the area’s best brewers in the intimate, historic space that was once home to the area’s most distinguished brewer. Phil will go behind the Instagram filters and comments to hear how brewers really feel about the digital conversations around their beer during the panel. Phil will ask deep, hard-hitting questions of Michael Tonsmeire, co-founder of Sapwood Cellars; Andrew Kelle & Kai Leszkowicz, co-founders of Aslin Brewing Co.; and, Drew McCormick, Pizzeria Paradiso’s executive beverage director. After the chat is over, you will have time to explore the first floor brewmaster’s castle while sipping on local brews made by the featured panelists. The bar will be open until the event is over for purchasing beer and snacks. Admission is $10 per person. This event will run from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, please click here.
