La Famosa, a Puerto Rican restaurant from Joancarlo Parkhurst, opening in 2020 in Navy Yard, will host a pop-up and menu takeover at Right Proper Brewing’s Brookland Production House and Tasting Room. Joancarlo and the team will serve an array of traditional Puerto Rican food items at the popular local brewery including: Bolitas de queso ($5), fried cheese balls are a Swiss-influenced snack from a classic restaurant in San Juan. Tripleta Sandwich ($9). Best known as the quintessential blue collar sandwich, Tripleta is Puerto Rican street food at its best – a pressed pork, steak and ham sandwich, it’s typically served with a garlicy “mayochup” on pan de agua bread, which is similar to a bolillo roll. Pastelillitos de Jueyes ($7). These crab fritters, similar to empanadas, pay homage to the fry shacks of Loiza, the northeastern coastal town that was badly damaged during Hurricane Maria. The event is from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
