National Caipirinha Day

September 13 is National Cachaca (pronounced “kuh CHAA kuh”) Day or National Caipirinha Day, depending on which calendar you follow. To mark the occasion, Texas de Brazil will be offering $5 Caipirinhas all day. The spirit is made only in Brazil and is considered the first distilled sugar cane spirit in the Americas, pre-dating rum (made with molasses) by nearly a hundred years. Caipirinhas are the national drink of Brazil and are a beloved refreshment in Brazilian/South American culture. Made with only three simple ingredients (Cachaça, lime, and sugar), this is a tangy and vibrant drink that is enjoyed abundantly and holds a colorful history.
