Not Too Sweet: an AAPI Community Bake-Off
747 C St SE
On Sunday, May 18th, 2025, a special community bake-off will be hosted in Washington, DC by local organizer [your name, if you'd like it included] in collaboration with Erika Kwee, better known as The Pancake Princess. Erika is a New York City-based food blogger and content creator, widely celebrated for her popular bake-offs, in which she tests and compares recipes for beloved baked goods like Guinness Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Babka. Her data-driven, methodical approach to baking has earned her a loyal following of over 262K on Instagram and 106K on TikTok, particularly among baking enthusiasts searching for the best recipes. For just the second time ever—and the first time outside of NYC—Erika will be bringing her signature bake-off format to DC with “NOT TOO SWEET: an AAPI Community Bake-off.” The event will take place from 2–4 PM at La Collina (747 C St SE, Washington, DC 20003), and attendees are invited to bring their best bake in one of five categories: milk bread, Asian-ish cookies, mochi, sponge cake, and no-bake desserts. Grand prizes, including gifts from Great Jones, Dona, the Eastern Point Collective, and a baking book by an AAPI author, will be awarded to the top entries. Tickets are $15 and include a beverage from Dona, with all proceeds supporting Viet Place Collective. Click HERE to grab your tickets.
