Understanding the Wine Business in America with Jay Youmans MW (Online)
The Capital Wine School presents Understanding the Wine Business in America, a four-class online series led by Jay Youmans, MW, offering an in-depth look at one of the world’s most regulated, complex, and fascinating industries.
Designed for students, wine professionals, and passionate enthusiasts alike, this course explores how wine is sold in the United States—from production and distribution to pricing, regulation, and consumer behavior. Participants will examine the three-tier system, identify the major players in each channel, and gain insight into which wines succeed in the marketplace and why. The course also addresses the evolving regulatory landscape across federal, state, and local levels, and provides tools for navigating and anticipating change within the industry.
Classes will be held live via Zoom on Tuesdays, January 6, 13, and 20, and February 3, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The Capital Wine School makes every effort to record sessions and provide access to enrolled students through the end of the course, though live attendance is strongly encouraged.
