WSET Level 1 Award in Wines (In Person)
5207 Wisconsin Avenue NW
The Capital Wine School presents the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, a one-day, in-person certification course designed for those seeking a structured introduction to wine knowledge and tasting.
This six-hour guided course includes instructor-led learning, wine tastings curated by Jay Youmans MW, and the official WSET Level 1 exam. Students will receive a printed study guide upon arrival—no advance preparation is required—and will taste eight wines while learning about the main styles of wine, key grape varieties, proper wine service, storage, tasting technique, and basic food and wine pairing.
The course takes place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, and includes a lunch break (lunch not provided). The day concludes with a 45-minute exam. Successful candidates will receive a digital WSET certificate and badge.
Please note that the building does not have an elevator, and attendees must navigate several sets of stairs to reach the second-floor classroom.
