After being home to a flower shop for decades, The Flour Shop has now now opened in its space, bringing a new bakery to Easton, Maryland. Like the small-town bakeries of Europe, The Flour Shop has a strong focus on breads. The breads are baked fresh daily including sourdoughs, focaccia, ciabatta and ciabattini, baguettes, ficelle, rye and pumpernickel. sweet and savor sandwich loaves, and challah every Friday. A rotating selection of monthly bread specials are also available throughout the week. Pastries such as cookies, canelé, and maritozziare are also available at The Flour Shop as well as specialty tea cakes and bundt cakes that change regularly to introduce new flavors, galettes running sweet or savory, and pistachio cake sold by the slice and more. The bread program is led by Executive Pastry Chef and Chocolatier Sarah Deale, and Head Baker John Aversa. Premium flours are what give their loaves and pastries the balance of a shattering crust with a moist, open crumb.
