We had an array of guests this week on Foodie & The Beast, including Collen Gillespie and Reed Doherty in studio to tell us about Boundary Stone. With a new rooftop garden, complete with beehive, many of their cocktails feature ingredients grown themselves. One of the drinks Reed made us was the zesty and spicy Trapper Keeper. This drink was made from vodka infused with different peppers from the rooftop garden. Boundary Stone also has open mic night every Monday, and bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Next, Nick Phelps and Jason Lundberg came in to tell us about From The Farmer, a grocery delivery service that brings fresh quality produce to your door. By partnering with local farmers, they create boxes full of fresh food to be delivered to anyone in the DMV area. Debby Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength, then joined us in studio to talk about ending childhood hunger in America. Her nonprofit just surpassed their 775 millionth meal for a hungry child! Debby told us about their friendsgiving fundraiser where partnering chefs provide you with menus and recipes for your dinner party, where your guests make a contribution to the organization. They hope to raise half a million dollars by the end of the holiday season. President of DC’s Craft Bartenders Guild, Andrea Tateosian, gave us the 411 on the 10th annual Repeal Day Ball. Andrea served us a light scotch-based cocktail she calls The Night Before Volstead. Finally, new CEO of Six O’clock Scramble, Jessica Braider, told us all about the online meal planning service, which focuses on nutritionally balanced meals in 30 minutes or less that the whole family will enjoy. Their new Make Ahead Breakfast offers quick and easy scones, protein-packed muffins, eggs, oatmeal, and more. To listen to the whole show, please click here.
