.Battle Of The Oranges — Lahlou Restaurant Group is Celebrating The Battle Of The Oranges by Offering Entrées, Desserts, And Cocktails Showcasing The Sweet, Sour And Bitter Flavors Of The Orange At Lupo Verde, Lupo Verde Osteria And Lupo Marino.  This Famous ‘battle’ Reenacts The 12th-century Skirmish With Citrus Fruit In What Is One Of Europe’s Biggest Food Fights. Around 8,000 People Gather For The Start Of The Traditional Battle Of The Oranges Which Is A Three-day Festival.  Participants Either Run Through The Streets Propelling Citrus At Opponents Or Hurl Oranges From One Of The Battle Carts Which Patrol The City Of Ivrea.  Each Year In The Days Leading Up To Fat Tuesday, The Townspeople Of Ivrea Divide Into Nine Squads Of arancini (orange Handles) And Spend The Next Three Days Participating In Italy’s Food Fight. It Commemorates The City’s Defiance Against A Tyrant.  400 Tons Of Oranges Are Used In This Annual Event.
