Chef Todd Gray is hosting a three-course ancient Roman banquet inspired by recipes of Marcus Gavius Apicius, a notorious Roman gourmand who lived AD 14-37. He was famous for sailing around the Mediterranean looking for the biggest prawns he could find. During the dinner, there will be a discussion about Roman dining customs including those of infamous Herod the Great, led by Museum of the Bible Curator of Antiquities Susan Masten. Some menu items include tahini-marinated beet salad, sweet & sour baked chicken, Roman style lentil potage, and deep-fried honey fritters and almond & semolina pudding. Come hungry and tastefully experience the lavish lifestyle of Herod and its impact on Jewish society in the first century AD. General admission is $45 per person (please note payment will be collected on site the day of the event). This includes a three-course meal and special presentation by Chef Todd and Susan Masten. 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. For more information or to register, please click here.
